I was born in Corning, NY on June 7th, 1984, the first child in my family. My parents promptly moved to Tulsa, OK, where I spent my first formative years surrounded by my dad’s side of the family. In 1989 we moved to Greensboro, NC for my dad’s job. I pretty much grew up in Greensboro, where I went to catholic school at Our Lady of Grace from 2nd-8th grade, and then continued on to Grimsley Senior High School.
I’ve always had an artistic side, and I used to draw excessively, but I think that I may have fallen victim to what many parents like to complain about nowadays: short attention span. I became more interested in computers than the physical act of drawing. This in many ways probably proved to be a perfectly good thing. I’ve been doing web design for fun and money since early high school, and I love what I do. I’m in NCSU’s Graphic Design program these days, learning more about different aspects of the discipline, but my heart still lies in this kind of design.
I love the fluidity of internet design... the way things can change and you can interact with the medium. I’m also more analytical than many of my peers, I think... I love working behind the scenes to power a web site... cutting it up and building the tables is a custom puzzle to me, and coding the scripting backend for certain projects is another kind of challenge. Plus, I do some of the best web designs I’ve seen come out of my town, not to be arrogant, but most web designers are code-junkies... computer programmers who know nothing of style and design. I love the medium for its fusion of these two things and as such I think I bring a fresh and enticing perspective to the table.
I own and operate a custom web design company, Neolantix, LLC. Check it out for some other examples of my work.
